NICE TO MEET YOU
Hi, my name is Sarah, and this is my blog.
I'm a full-time Web Designer for Ralph Lauren in New York City. It keeps me rather busy. Since April 2009, I've also been been the blogger/designer behind this here blog. Over the years, its function has changed from creative outlet to a diary to a living design portfolio. And as for now? It's 100% for fun. I'd like to keep it that way...
If you want to get technical, I'm an interaction designer, art director, and brand strategist all rolled into one. I have a professional background in graphic design, retail planning, merchandising and personal styling. I am formally educated in graphic design, brand analysis, and design for business strategy.
I graduated from Union College (NY) in 2007 with a BA in Art History and Visual Arts. After working for a few years in Virginia, I decided to take the leap and go back to school. In 2009, I enrolled at Savannah College of Art and Design ("SCAD") as a provisional graphic design student. I got my butt kicked. In 2010, I was accepted into the Master of Fine Arts program for Design Management. In 2012, I successfully defended my Master's thesis and graduated with an honors degree. Since then, it's just been me and New York City!
I'm proud to have some of my SCAD work featured on FastCompany.com, while my blog content has been shared on MarthaStewart.com, HouseBeautiful.com, Anthology Magazine, 100 Layer Cake, Snippet and Ink, and many more. I've also worked as a brand consultant for Savannah Magazine, and acted as Associate Designer behind Matchbook magazine for over a year while finishing school (May 2011 - November 2012).
A Baltimore native, I have also called New York City, Charlottesville, and Savannah home. I'm so glad to call Manhattan home once more. When not running around Ralph Lauren headquarters on Madison Ave or working on a new blog post, you can find me wandering museums, reading in Central Park, grabbing drinks with friends, or relaxing in Connecticut with my family.
I am especially horrible about answering email. Please visit the FAQ section, and follow along or chat with me elsewhere:
And now, the famous "timeline" (a lot has changed since I originally uploaded this !)
