Hello there! As you can see, once again life got in the way of blogging this week, which is exactly how it should be, I think. Last Saturday I headed into the city for drinks and dinner with some of the most ambitious and fabulous women I know: illustrator Inslee Haynes, Roxy of Society Social, Mackenzie of Design Darling and Loren, designer behind the stunning Loren Hope jewelry line. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time... Blogger friends are just wonderful.
I was also invited to the Madewell and J.Crew Spring/Summer 2013 collection press previews on Tuesday. Visiting 770 Broadway may be small beans to some people, but walking down the hallway, I had a major existential personal moment. Five years prior, you could have found me standing in the middle of a J.Crew store in central Virginia folding Jackie cardigans and day dreaming about what I really wanted to do with my life. And yet there I was, walking into J.Crew Headquarters - Mecca, if you will - and as my mind continued to wander off in its own little thankful universe, reality hit. Literally. I walked square into Jenna Lyons in the doorway of the Madewell preview. (It was awesome - and awkward, in true Sarah fashion.)
So that was my Tuesday. No big deal. [See photos on Instagram - @notetosarah!]
Then (this is the clincher), I got home and had a voicemail from Ralph Lauren, with whom I had interviewed with last week. And guess what? I got the job! So starting bright and early on Monday (barring severe Snowicane Hurricarnage) I'll be joining the design team behind their Wholesale Online Strategy and Marketing efforts. I'm rather excited. That my friends is what they call an "understatement."
Beware of mushiness ahead: I know there will always be hard days and experiences. I also know that finding and doing what you love is never ever easy (you've seen the timeline), but I'm here to tell you: hard work will get you everywhere. Just keep going. And of course: endless thanks for sticking by me - for all of the comments, Tweets and emails... they make my day better. So, here's to the next three years of madness. And know that no matter what: Note to Self will definitely be along the journey...
On that soppy, rambling note, I simply wish you all a wonderful weekend. Have fun!
P.S. If you have not yet entered this amazing Furbish Studio giveaway, do so before Monday!
